Lake Windermere Project chosen for “best practices”

.

The Lake Windermere Project has recently been selected as one of three "best practices" case studies. Project manager Heather Leschied says, “We are excited to have been chosen and look forward to sharing our experiences of community-based monitoring.”

This research will identify successful community-based environmental monitoring and specific conditions contributing to their success.

The "best-practices" information will be compiled into a handbook-style guide and used by the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (CEAA) to ensure successful monitoring initiatives are undertaken in the context of Environmental Impact Assessment Follow-up.

This project is funded by CEAA and carried out by N.T.Yap Environmental Systems Analysts (YESA). A representative from YESA, Tristan Lefler, conducted interviews in Invermere from February 20 to March 3 with project participants, partners and volunteers. For more information on the research project, please call Heather Leschied at 250-341-6898. For information on the Lake Windermere Project, click_here.
